I don't know what it is about commas. I love 'em. I sprinkle them liberally in everything that I write. I don't even need to have a reason to drop one into the middle of a sentence, my finger will just reach out and pop one in for no reason. It seems to be a subconscious effort to keep my writing on par with my thinking. If I pause while writing, I drop in a comma. If there is a pause in dialogue I drop in a comma. My first draft is usually a big mess with 60% too many commas that I have to go back and remove. I guess there could be worse writing habits. Is there a writing habit that you have tried to break but couldn't? Some bane that lurks in your writing that you just can't quit?
